St Patrick's Day Runner

My friend Nicole taught me to "quilt as you go" at the craft retreat, and this is my St Patrick's runner for the chest in the living room.

Craft Retreat 2011

I went on my first craft retreat this winter and let me just say...it was AWESOME!! Nicole, Winter, Cindy, Brenda, Lorissa and I went up on Friday afternoon and came home on Sunday afternoon. It was in Shipshewana so not only did we craft, but we shopped too. I have been using the sewing machine that my mom got in the 70s and have only made a few wallhangings in my sewing career, so I was going in blind. It didn't matter, because I learned so much from Nicole and Cindy, and ended up getting a new sewing machine about a week after I got back. I made a St Patrick's Day wallhanging and a runner for the chest in our living room.

Its actually kind of funny. We stayed on the first floor at the Brethren Retreat Center and our crafting area was set up down in the basement. I went up and down those stairs so much when we got there unloading our crafting supplies that my quads were so sore by the time we got home. Soreness aside, I had such a great time and learned so much that I will definitely be going back next year and will have a much lighter and effecient sewing machine. I will also be more organized so I don't have to take as much stuff :)

Snowy Day

We did get one snow day this winter. This is what I did...

Christmas

Its been a while since my last post, so I'm going to try to catch up...

I was in the living room one evening and I hear David say, "I learned how to spill." I went into the kitchen where he was making ranch dressing, and I see this...

"I learned how to spill" made more sense after seeing this.

We went to VA for a short trip to help mom with the Christmas Home Tour (her house looked amazing!). On our way home, we experienced some crazy weather. It was go from snow to rain and back to snow just about the whole way home. Our 9 1/2 hour trip took 12 1/2 hours.
