Some Inspiration

God didn't promise days without rain, laughter without sorrow, nor sun without rain. But he did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

To Do

I have so many things that I want to do. Why is it that none of them include working? I want to sew. I want to knit. I want to crochet. I want to garden. I want to decorate. I want to cook and bake more. Why do we have to spend so much time working that when we get off we are too tired to enjoy life? I need to find a balance. I need more energy after 6pm to really get stuff done. Or maybe I just need to quit whining and making excuses, and just do it all. Suck it up, right?! I need to remember that I am living like no one else today, so that later I can live like no one else. Well, I wish this was a more inspiring post, but sometimes a girl can't be all full of fluffy bunnies and rainbows. Maybe tomorrow.

St Patrick's Day

Tomorrow will mark the 9th year that I have been married to the most wonderful man in the world. I've known this man for 12 years...wow...12 years. And for those of you who don't know, he captured my heart by simply saying a prayer to our God thanking him for our food. Something so small meant so much to me.

He is the most Godly man I have ever met, giving God all of the glory for the blessings in his life and striving everyday to hear God's voice.

He is my best friend. He can quote lines from movies and shows at the most random time and just crack me up! He does this voice that he created in college and it never gets old. I love that I can crack him up too. We laugh all the time. Never a dull moment in our home.

Oh, our home. We bought our house in Sept. 2008 and he has done so much work to it. Work that he never thought he would be able to do. He put a new shower in; installed a bathroom sink; kitchen sink; completely gutted 2 toilets and put new parts in; put 2 new lights in up in the attic; installed 2 new light fixtures in the house; has done tons of landscaping; painted the outside of the house (windows, garage doors, soffetts); installed a vent fan and ceiling fan (with the help of his dad), and probably tons of other things that I just can't remember right now. He is amazing!!

He is just the best. Even when we go through trials, there is no one that I would rather struggle with.

I am so proud of him. He is taking a class to get his A+ Certification so that he can work on computers and is carrying an A in the class. This class should be given in 2 semesters, but it is offered in a 1 semester class, so he is putting in tons of hours. He is amazing!!

Well, I love him tons and can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. God hand picked him just for me and I am so blessed!!
An anniversary gift from my friend Nicole :)

Spring Has Come To The Cabin

Spring has come to the cabin. It is so wonderful that it is 7:30 pm and it is still light outside. I am so ready to start doing things outside like planting our first garden out back and planting some new goodies in the flower beds. I am ready to landscape and then sit out on my front and back porches and enjoy God's beauty. So for right now, I'll just enjoy the spring feeling inside and wait patiently to enjoy the outside. God's beauty is everywhere.

Ole Virginia

"Almost heaven, Old Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah Valley. Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, growing like a weed. Country roads, take me home, to the place I belong. Old Virginia, mountain mama, take me home, country roads."

I love the Statler Brothers' version of that song, because they really emphasize Virginia. David and I went to visit family and friends a couple of weeks ago in Fincastle/Roanoke, Virginia, and we had a great time! I could've used one or two more days, but I will take what I can get. We had beautiful weather to drive (both going and coming back). As always, the food was great, the fellowship entertaining, and the sweet tea...amazing!! We went to support the James River Knights boys basketball team on Friday night (go Knights), and got to spend Saturday with our friends Trevor and Mary Ann. On Sunday, I had the privilege of singing at my parents' church, and that went well too. It was so nice to see my family. I hadn't seen my parents, sister and grandparents since June, and my brother and his family and my grandma and Aunt since April. TOO LONG! It was really hard to say goodbye, and many tears were shed, but it was still an amazing trip.

I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted to, but here are a few.

My sister, Ginni Ellen and me hanging out on Sunday.
My momma and me.

See, I told you I didn't take as many pictures as I would've liked to. Here are some pics of the awesome things that I came home with. Treasures, you could say!
My mom painted this Friends sign on some old barn wood.

This was part of my Christmas from my parents.

Christmas from my parents.

This is my old pickle jar which is soon to house several antiqued baseballs. I'm working on adding some decor to our home that symbolizes a part of David. :)

I belive that this desk was my great grandmother's. My mom and granddaddy told me so many stories about what belonged to whom, but I think I got this one right.

This old iron table was out in my granddaddy's shed and I can't wait to clean it up and spray paint it either yellow or red. It is going to look so cute on the front porch!

My dad traded some electrical work for an old barn (that had been torn down and delivered to their house) and he and mom have started making things out of the old barn wood. Several signs and this trelis are just a few.

Not the best picture, but it says Friends Gather Here. I love it!!

I am so blessed with two different, yet equally wonderful families. Born into one, married into the other. God has been blessing me for years, but sometimes more than others, I just feel so overwhelmed with all of blessings, that I just have to stop what I am doing and say, "Thank you, Jesus for being in my life. Thank you for blessing me with my wonderful husband, all of my family and friends, and for my home. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!"
