Sunday, I was driving home from work during some crazy weather and I had a super "God Moment". (Side note: as I was sitting at McDonalds waiting on my large sweet tea, the tornado siren started to go off. FREAKY!!! SCAREY!!! CRAZY!!! It was dark in some parts and very windy, but it didn't look like there were any tornados around.) Okay, onto the God moment: For the past couple of days, I have been listening to a tape that I might have "borrowed" from my grandparents many years ago entitled, "Gospel Favorites" by the Statler Brothers. So I'm driving along down Hwy 15 during crazy wind, rain, WIND, RAIN and some more of the WWWIIIIINNNNDDDD, when guess what the Statlers started to sing to me......."I'LL FLY AWAY"!! How appropriate. It was shortly after this that the weather started to "come in and out". By this I mean, it would pour down rain....then stop....then pour.....then stop. I could see the rain in the distance, and I'm pretty sure there were some questionable clouds there too. How appropriate it was then, that the Statlers started to sing to me about, "How Great Thou Art". How awesome to see all of this rain and wind and then through it all....blue skies and some sun. It really is amazing to me to see all of the small, and BIG ways that God shows himself to us everyday. Whether it is through the storms or through new life. David and I were admiring our yard today and we discovered that we are going to have some flowers that we didn't know we even had. I am so excited to see what kind they are and am in awe of the beauty that God creates each day. Needless to say, He got me home safe on Sunday.
An update on my job search and progress and some things going on in the Slingluff household. Back in February, I applied for the position of Coordinator of Youth and Children's Ministries at our church. I have an official interview Tues, March 10th at 6:30pm. YEAH!!!!! This has felt like an endless journey, but I have seen God's hand in every step and David and I have seen His endless love for us and His direction. David has also found some direction from God. For a couple of years now, he has had a passion to work with finances following scripture and the advice of Dave Ramsey (speaker, radio host, and best-selling author). Starting in January, he began teaching our Sunday School Class on the Crown Financial study, "Discovering How To Handle Money God's Way". This has lead to having some people in the class ask him about facilitating Dave Ramsey's program, "Financial Peace University". He took it to the Pastoral Care Ministry and the Christian Education Ministry at church tonight and got the approval to start the class in May. It will run for 13 weeks and David is so excited!!! (He is on the phone with his dad right now, as I write). :) I am so excited for him.
Well, that is all from the cabin today. Lots of God sitings in the Slingluff family and tons of excitement with lots of nervousness. Please keep us in your prayers as we "weather" the storms and wait patiently on God's perfect timing :)
